Do you know what _this_ is?

Sure, Her Story is great and all, but what if you want a classic cheesy FMV murder mystery game, full of scenery chewing and dodgy programming? Then you're in luck! Created by a Tim Follin, a long time video game composer, Contradiction: Spot the Liar! has spawned a bit of a cult following on the video game site Giant Bomb after Giant Bomb East did a Quick Look and was then so engrossed they recorded a supplemental Quick Look and is now continuing their playthrough as a premium feature (paywalled). The actors and producers have noticed the attention and have responded in kind, recording thank you videos and vines. They even (with the help of community members) managed to prank the GBeast podcast.

Tim Follin and Anarosa Eizaguirre have been answering questions on the forums as well.

There's also a non-GB lengthy interview about the genesis and production of Contradiction.

I liked this game better when it was called Ace Attorney.

That's easy. That's a pickle.

(Sorry!)

I hear “scenery chewing in an FMV game” and my brain always jumps to Christopher Walken’s performance (part 1, part 2) in the FMV game Ripper, a game that functions as unintentional parody of the entire genre.

Also, Contradiction: Spot the Liar is available on Steam, though it’s weird the Giant Bomb page doesn’t link to it.

FYI: If you don't know Tim Follin check out his title track for the NES game solstice. It's likely the proggiest thing to every come out of an 8 bit system.

And this is nothing but a two-bit ring from a Crackerback jox.

Also important to point out there is both a PC version on Steam and an iPad version.

Giant Bomb has actually done a video about that game as well, which is also pretty great (and also paywalled, need to be a premium member to see it).

Also, this game and video series is just so amazing, I can't wait for the next episode.
