"In our state, guns are used for hunting."

Three slain in Vermont killing spree, with a fourth murdered yesterday by presumably the same person. The killings have political implications, as Bernie Sanders has recently faced criticism from political ads, the press, fact checkers, in broadcast interviews, and during townhalls for siding with the NRA to block liability claims against gun manufacturers, personally defending a Vermont company that is the nation's largest importer of military surplus weaponry, and parroting the NRA's talking points. He recently tried to distance his voting record from gun violence elsewhere, saying "Guns in Vermont are not the same as guns in Chicago or guns in Los Angeles. In our state, guns are used for hunting".... a questionable assertion.

This post was deleted for the following reason: This is pretty editorial framing and hopping right in with political axegrindfilter over a freak occurrence is both distasteful and not going to lead to a good thread. -- LobsterMitten

Glad this is finally coming back to bite him in the ass.

Let's go easy on blaming a freaking -murder- on Bernie.

Only a populist left candidate can be blamed for an amendment that's politically untouchable in the current climate.

It's like "soft on crime" for liberals.

I'm not glad people are dying over this.

I didn't say anything of the sort, if that's what you're implying. I'm glad that Bernie's ties to the NRA are finally getting some airing.

I'm not. (Four people being murdered and all...)

But the idea of any politician claiming that their state is somehow above the epidemic of gun violence is... insulting? Intellectually dishonest? Simply not supported by the facts of the matter, which show that gun safety laws work, despite the best efforts of those in some states to undermine gun safety legislation in national policy.
