That was a good read, thanks. My favorite line: "You know, wearing this mask gives you a certain kind of freedom to say whatever you want. I completely recommend it. If you’re in a situation where you’re a little afraid to speak up, put a mask on. You won’t believe what comes out of your mouth."

So uh...if I'm a dude, and I want to show support for woman artists... what mask do I wear? Gorilla seems like it would send the wrong message here...

Buy their work!

Thanks for the post; the Guerrilla Girls have been heroes of mine since they first started showing up and outraging people.

The Guerrilla Girls are necessary gadflies- the simple act of counting and asking "why" as a subversive act.

And their tactics have had a long lasting influence, and not just in the art world. I know of people who simply list the gender distribution of SF&F award winners and anthology contributors and wait for the spluttering self-justifications. And when my wife and I went to the SF museum in Seattle, we loudly counted how many female SF authors there were out of the bunch (four).

I wish we didn't need them, but I'm so thankful we have them.
