Geocities for Scientologists Take a look at the uniformity of the personal pages on this site. It's enough to make one wonder if these people even know they have webpages.

It's also a brilliant attempt by the "Church" to flood Google with hundreds of thousands of positive testimonials to counteract the very vocal detractors.

Won't work for flooding google, they deal with harder sneaker flooding attempts all the time..

Still, I gotta admit Scientology has some clever people somewhere inside.. I just wonder what is motivating them..

Found this on Scripting.com a few days back: The Church of Scientology's Supremacy over the search term "Scientology" on Google.

Nice charts.

Hrm. I swore this had been discussed here before, but I can't find anything. The reason the pages look so similar is that the members are given very strict rules as to what can be said(not news), and (I seem to recall) even offered a very simple tool for producing their sites, which is of course, standardized, and limited. Some info at Salon, although not exactly what I was looking for.

As for Narconon, have a look at this for some amusement.

If it weren't all so horrible, that picture would be very very funny.

And I must say, her about myself section is the most lively I've seen yet. Hmm... maybe I should have coffee with her... and she can tell me more of this "light." Oh, and where I can get a lot of cash to pay for happiness.

From the one with a pic:

"Then I had had an awful fear of getting married and was always picking the wrong kind of guy. I was nearly 30 and my female clock was running out. It took a little bit more of Dianetics counseling to uncover the reason and I was married 4 weeks later and have two wonderful children that are the light of my life."

Apparently the reason was "because I hadn't yet paid the Church thousands of dollars to bind me to my perfect <strike>master</strike> husband.

aw, shucks rodii. Scientology threads are the only ones in which the christians, pagans, atheists and agnostics get along. ITs like a group hug. If we summon the wrath of the RonLHubbardians we will have to switch to something else.

Actually, more like censorware. A good starting point for more info here.

Remember kids, Xenu loves you (except if you want to browse the internet and create your own webpage, that is)!!
