Darth Punk - The Funk Awakens (SLYT) One day Vader and Fett will recruit for the the dark side, disguised as an electronic music duo... they will be arresting ears and administering intergalactic rhythm and beats. The Rebels won't stand a chance. This is their music video, featuring 'Dj Gonk'. Courtesy of The Mary Sue

Hm. I was expecting this with some filterbank knob twiddling. But the music isn't Star Warsy at all.

OMG, Sys Rq. When I was a little kid I had a cassette tape with a bunch of late-70s hits and I had vague memories of a disco version of the Star Wars theme, but I assumed I was mixing up in my head the original John Williams score with stuff from the Bee Gees and Village People tracks. But that's it! I haven't heard that in almost 40 years. (Not to be confused with the Maynard Ferguson version, which wasn't what I was listening to in grade school.) Thanks for validating my childhood memories.

Crystal Dave, that video is fun. I loved Vader & Fett on the light cycle & board. And I appreciated all the little touches to make the whole thing seem less like a creepy stalker video (like her posse and the high five Boba Fett gives the random dude). And yeah, Sys Rq, it's, "What if Daft Punk looked like Darth Vader, not what if John Williams sounded like Daft Punk."

This would be brilliant, if only their Darth wasn't so damn short. Kinda ruins it for me.

I don't think I've ever seen whatever breaking-out-of-the-letterbox is actually called before. I like it.

Was thinking of this 2005 mix by Tom Middleton.

Nice. Short Darth was okay. Funny, even.

They missed an opportunity to have the car she drives be a Ford Falcon.

It's like they went with the Rick Moranis Vader from Spaceballs.
