Why Millennials Are Unhappy

The first question you tend to get asked when you meet someone at a party is “What do you do?” That’s a big reason why you’re so unhappy with your life. Interesting article that analyzes why some people are unhappy. It's kinda cheesy, but I really like a few parts.

I read the article. I would say that it's important to avoid going to parties where people care what you do for a living.

The title of this FPP is interesting. I always figured the reason why there are so many articles about "Millenials" these days is that, for a little while longer, their parents, the similarly self-absorbed Boomers, are the ones who still have the remaining jobs as columnists (or have helped their kids get jobs about Millenials).

Growing up as a Gen Xer, we had to deal with nuclear war, a truly horrible, endless recession around 1990 or so, and, of course, no WiFi or even internet. The Dark Ages, I tells ya.

The opposite of a snob, however, is your mother. She doesn’t care about your status. Or your salary, or who you banged last Friday, or the color of your iPhone. None of that matters to your mother. She cares about your soul.

The author hasn't met my mother.

I never ask that question, probably because I don't like answering it. I might be lucky though, I have friends that I've known for more than a decade and I have no idea what they do or vice versa.

After giving the matter a good amount of thought and doing serious readings on the topic, I believe I would be happier with more money. (not kidding, I do believe that)

Funny thing is, the Millennials I work with are really happy, inexplicably happy, and seemingly so devoid of the snarky cynicism so common to my generation that they often seem stumped by casual negativity.
