I like the "Général" who's wearing one of those ridiculously gaudy 19th century medals as a necklace. It's a good thing that trend didn't continue or by now French military people (and other Europeans, this one of Tsar Nicholas always makes me chuckle) would have miniature gold models of Versailles with working fountains hanging off of their dress uniforms.

This is cool, and illustrates the sort of futurism embraced in the early 1900s that was occluded and forgotten by the time the 50s rolled around. The fact that our current understanding of social feminist notions are often informed primarily from post-war ideals often means we tend to forget that things are not linear, ascent of (wo)man models.
