He doesn't always nail it, but when he does... and he's getting better as well, especially with the vocal styling.

Here's a piece on the Beardytron 5000 MK2, the collation of bits he runs the show on.

I know Thomas Dolby and Imogen Heep (she's mentioned in the article above, Dolby isn't, although they're all great buds FWIU) do similar live-looping shows. Anyone else?

Oh, awesome. I missed it this year.

Devonian: David Ford (formerly of easyworld) has been using live looping in his shows more and more over the last 10 years. His recorded music sounds like a traditional band set up, but I saw him playing a solo show this year where he played all the instruments and looped things. Here's a video of him doing Panic live

In another Edinburgh call back, I also remember seeing a wonderful show by Steve Lawson at the Fringe in 2002. He sells himself as the UK's leading solo bassist, and it was a mesmerising show involving him, his electric bass, and live looping. I haven't seen him since, but the website suggests that he's still exploring it.

There was actually quite a bit of live-looping at the Fringe this year, at least in the shows I saw. She Makes War used it extensively in her show "Shit Girlfriend", as did the music for "Blind Man's Song" by Theatre Re.

Absolutely brilliant. I'm only up to 'Tickle My Frog' and tears are running down my cheeks.
