I love the fact that the linked article includes swatches of the new and old colors of the universe. The beige is actually more of a cream color that, painted on a ceiling, would probably make a room look bigger. Maybe that's why the common wisdom has the universe expanding.

When the original turquoise color was announced, I wondered how the universe could be so dramatically blue-shifted, on average, with all the red and yellow stars around. Not that intuition plays much of a role in the hard sciences these days, when all the easy discoveries have been made.
