Polish artist Jakub Rozalski, aka“Mr. Werewolf,” paints serene and idyllic rustic landscapes of what seem to be Eastern Europe in the early 20th century, featuring the prominent and inexplicable existence of completely fictitious giant mecha robots. (via Dangerous Minds)

So according to my uncle, in the Soviet Union, a regular technical university exercise was to send a bunch of students out to a farm somewhere and have them take apart a tractor and put it back together again over the course of a couple of days.

I can only assume there was at least one person each time showing up with plans to build that log-heaving robot out of tractor parts.

That reminds me--and I will remind others here preemptively--of the polite request by griphus that we no longer do crapulent "In Soviet Union..." jokes.

The painting subjects generally appear to be Polish, so Knockov Smirnov jokes wouldn't really fit anyway.

I'd like to think the winged hussars are out to take down that mech with their bazookas, and given their engagement history, they're likely to be successful.

Aw, damn, this is a duplicate post. The guy changed his URL and I didn't have the good sense to search by his name also.

I really like the direction this Battletech reboot is taking.

On a mecha-robot/fine-arts tangent, there is now an English translation of Simon Stålenhag's Ur Varselklotet.

This art is being used in the upcoming board game Scythe. It looks fantastic!

These are amazing.

I haven't done any serious gaming in years, but if the in-game universe actual looked like these watercolors, mood and all, I would seriously reconsider.
