Meanwhile Questions you aren’t supposed to ask about ISIS: #1 – those Toyota trucks which have become the defacto pick up for revolutionaries.
Some say the the Mystery of ISIS’ Toyota Army is Solved.

This post was deleted for the following reason: Would be good to do this with somewhat less sketchy-seeming links if that's practicable. If it's not, then eh. -- cortex

If ISIS has "hundreds" of these trucks, and the US sent 43, how exactly is this mystery "solved"?

Also, the "mystery solved" site is pretty super-sketchy, which would be more tolerable if they were doing reporting, but they are making up their own story.

We don't know exactly how many were sent by the USA, but in any event: literally billions of dollars of Syrian oil have been illicitly sold over its border with Turkey. How do they pay for it? Well, I suppose cash must account for a lot of it, but payment in goods is very common. Turkey has one of the world's 20 largest economies; I don't suppose that it would be hard for purchasers to obtain "hundreds" of vehicles, and it's not like they're hard to transport.

A joke, updated:
Every day, Abdul drives over the border in his Toyota Hilux, and every day the border guards search it diligently to make sure he isn't smuggling anything to revolutionaries. After a year, Abdul retires to his cocaine-stacked palace in the Bahamas. Before he leaves, the commander of the guards says "Hey, Abdul, I know you must have been smuggling something, but my guards could never figure out what it was."
Abdum smiles and says "Hiluxes."

Also what is Off-Guardian (links 2 and 3)? Apparently it is people who felt they were censored in the Guardian's comments section, but I can't find anything else. The articles seem to veer from interesting points to implying that ISIS is secretly a propaganda campaign by the US. All wink-wink-nudge-nudge which only makes them less credible to me. I don't want to seem overly harsh, they are potentially interesting reading, but I like to know the sourcing..
