Why is the human vagina so big?

Wouldn't you explain the size and shape of the key by the size and shape of the lock?

Spoiler: it's because babies are big and the vagina is also the birth canal. Whod'a thunk?

So if there's an exceptionally human story for the great big human penis, that exceptional story originates not in a woman's orgasms, not in her pornographic thoughts or her lustful eyes, but in her decidedly unsexy "birth canal."

Geez. I'm finding this kinda misogynist as well as gee-whiz in a dumb way. Must we?

I guess the authors are trying to point out that there's nowhere near as much scholarship on the vagina as on the penis, but...the way this post is structured is a weird way to do that.
