In 1962 a US Air Force Crew was ordered to fire 32 nuclear missiles. Capt Bassett went through three layers of security codes, getting confirmation each time that the orders were correct. He decided to wait and even ordered airmen to shoot if an officer tried to follow the launch orders.

The Air Force has just now given permission for the story to be told.
