Good luck filling this position

A company in Canada had posted a job ad on LinkedIn for a Content Writer/SEO Specialist. According to the ad, skills that would make candidates desirable include: Writing talent, knowledge of SEO, and being of a female persuasion in order to fill in the responsibilities of a receptionist.

Vestra Inet has drawn criticism for the language used in its job posting. Toronto labour lawyer Howard Levitt said the language used in the posting is against the law in Ontario: β€œIt’s not merely politically incorrect in terms of typecasting people into certain gender roles, but the (Ontario) Human Rights Code makes it illegal to advertise based on gender.”

In response to the internet criticism, Vestra Inet posted this update to their LinkedIn page: "We would like to address the attention and comments that we have been receiving after our company posted an advertisement on LinkedIn for the position of 'Content Writer & SEO Specialist' with receptionist responsibilities. Several individuals have found the wording of the ad to be offensive, and we want to assure everyone that we did not mean to discriminate against any particular gender or group. Vestra Inet is a company that believes in promoting diversity. Our staff currently consists of employees of various genders and ethnicities. Above all, Vestra Inet values knowledge and talent."

I for one am outraged that this SEO company seeking Russian speakers has weak morals!
