Global weather

I have immediately emailed this to a friend of ours, who is an absolute weather wonk. (He's been keeping handwritten diaries of weather observations for over 30 years.)

Very cool!

Or very warm, or moderate, depending on where you look.

Neat! It's kind of calming to watch, but it's also kind of wondrous, seeing such large scale patterns. I want ones for other planets and moons...

Bookmarked. Thanks!

If this seems familiar, that's probably because it's based on Earth, which we discussed previously. Another close relation is Wind Map, discussed here.

Hey this is nice! I was also confused about "wait isn't this earth.nullschool.net" but there's a lot more data layers like temperature and waves available via the radio buttons. The basemap is also quite detailed; you can zoom in to see local features.

Ivo, the Wyndyty creator, provides proper credit to Earth on his about page. There's a little text writeup about it from when it launched last year.

I already had the earlier wind map bookmarked, but this has a lot more.
Interesting is the difference between surface wind and wind at 13,500m.

Yeah those high altitude winds neatly illustrate why Eastbound flights are so much quicker than Westbound (in North America, at least).
