Cool to see an interview with my brother, Zak Pashak, founder of Detroit Bikes.

The "background" music is mixed way too high, it's actively annoying.

Like it or not, this is going to be what makes or breaks cities in the future. Cities that don't put in bike infrastructure will empty out. Slow Roll is totally awesome as well.

Don't need no gas money to ride a bike.

But damn, watching that makes me want to ride in Detroit — in the summer. I ain't gonna fuck with bikes when I'm back in December. I did that enough back when I had a bike commute in Ann Arbor, and I'm not fool enough to do it for fun.

Aw, but biking in the snow is the most fun. Maybe even mostest.

Switching to studded tires for the season some evening this week. Whee!

I also had trouble hearing the people over the music, but I liked the images. As noted, though, Detroit has a long and cold winter, so good infrastructure there will need to accommodate more than just nice weather bicycling.

You sound like you got a bike with fenders and waterproof cycling shoes.

The fenders stay on year-round, but I just wear my insulated winter boots (and I keep some of those stick-on chemical toe warmer things available if those aren't enough.) Extremities are the hardest to keep warm, but if I can manage to keep my feet, hands, and ears toasty, the rest seems to take care of itself.
