Gizmodo brings us one of the most esoteric and meta end-of-year lists with The 10 Coolest Time Capsules Opened in 2015 (which includes a few messages in bottles, so it's a fairly liberal definition of "time capsule"). Lot of people want to preserve booze for the future generations.

These are pretty cool. I've always wondered how "the future" will regard time capsules. It appears that they mostly go "meh, they're full of junk, but maybe there's booze!", and so any time capsules I bury in the future will include booze to make up for all the junk.

Do "human time capsules" count? I had lunch last week with the sister of a guy who I was best friends with from elementary school to college, but drifted apart from 10 years ago. I hadn't seen her in at least 15 years, and she has all these memories preserved from when her brother and I were younger when she saw me more. She doesn't have any memories of me in between so I guess those ones stand out more, whereas I'd forgotten a lot of that stuff in the intervening time. It was an odd experience, though it was nice seeing her.
