To cater to the increasingly popular trend of femvertising, john st. has opened jane st., an agency that specializes in empowering women through advertising. Visit www.janest.ca to discover how your brand can leverage girlpower to help boost women’s self-esteem, and most importantly, your bottom line.

Absolutely perfect.

This is a well orchestrated and cynical marketing campaign by john st, isn't it? Just because your industry is exploiting "feminism" to sell products to women doesn't automatically make you any better, you now.

I don't understand the shoes one, at all. Are we supposed to think the women looking at the shoes think their feet are ugly when they walk up, a damp banner falls behind them, and suddenly think their feet are pretty? Is this satire? I hope this is satire.

OK it is satire and I feel stupid for missing the first link. Carry on without me.

"If she's crying, she's buying."

No no you don't get it they're satirically winking at an infinitesimally less knowing version of the exact lies they tell for a living, it's very hip and also progressive

"A John St. Company"

LoL.

The woman's hand gestures at the upside down Golden Arches killed me.

I am male and my feet ARE ugly.

The human foot is ugly and unhygienic. This is not a feminist issue. NEXT.

Yeah, I'm really not sure what the joke is supposed to be. It seems to be making fun of the services they're trying to sell. I guess if John St. was trying to send the message, "Hire us if you want your ad campaign to be confusing and counterproductive," mission accomplished.

Also, FYI, Jane St. is a real place in Toronto. It is known as "that place where all the murders happen." John St. is a Toronto-based ad agency. They know that.

Well, like, the production values, acting, and tone consistency are all really consistently good.

Love it.

Makes sense. What's the purpose though? To position themselves as cool and knowing? To get their name out?

John's St.'s work page has a handful of other productions poking fun at the advertising industry, though none as funny as this. Is it becoming a thing for ad companies to do this?

Jane Street (well, technically Jane Street Capital, but everyone just calls it Jane Street) is also a financial firm in New York that does a lot of interesting software stuff. As a software engineer in NYC it's a very well known company, so I did a serious double-take when I first saw this post.

To convince themselves when they stare in the mirror that the eyes staring back aren't soulless.

Are we laughing at or laughing with this satirical advert for an ad agency that's mocking ad agencies that either present or believe themselves to be forwarding progressive ads?

When all you have are lemons, make a lemon-scented feminine personal hygiene product. Ironically.

I was thinking "wait, if they're an ad agency why are they constantly posting stuff about ML languages...?"

It is known as "that place where all the murders happen."

Maybe to people who never leave the core. I know it as "the subway stop by the Humber Cinema" or "the street that meant I missed the bus stop for Rob's house again."
