Yeah, that'll clear everything up.

True fact: When I played bass in a band I would sometimes play a two-handed arrangement of the Log song during down times during a show. It showed more solid songwriting than our original stuff, in hindsight.

Ren, I don't want to stare at the burning log anymore!

Better burning than rolling over the neighbors' dog.

So I played the log video for my 4 year old and she laughed. Thence I played the slinky ad and her brother came over and said that he wanted it right after the announcer said that all boys and girls want one. So I played him the log video and he said he wants one of those too. I told him to go out into the backyard and get one.

Also, Log for girls!

I put this one on all screens I could get my hands on over Christmas. Not everyone noticed, and I don't think anyone wanted one.

Apropos of the new Star Wars, Kylo Ren & Stimpy.

I've been thinking that it's about time to introduce my kids to Ren and Stimpy. Might start with "Ren's Toothache". What could go wrong?

Some background, in case you weren't an early teenager in the '90s...

I wasn't a teenager in the 90s. Lots of people I knew then weren't teenagers or preeteens and we loved Ren & Stimpy. We would converse for quite some time about the Powdered Toast Man episode.

No offense intended on age. I always watched it with my dad, who to this day throws a "No sir. I don't like it." into conversations.

Now I've got my Internal DJ playing the Log song over and over and over and over again in my brain.

Could be worse, though. It's better than bad, it's good!

Yeah, I have to chime in that many people in their 20s were also inordinately fond of Ren and Stimpy. What with shows like this and MST3k, the early 90s was a magical time to have cable tv and a vcr.

(And apparently vcr's are obsolete enough that iOS will attempt to autocorrect to "vice".)

I learned the Ren and Stimpy theme on guitar as kid. I've totally forgotten it now, but I wore out the damn tape of You Eediot! learning that tune.

You can swizzle on the sofa
Piddle in the air
Tinkle in the toilet
That's why it is there
(Toilet flushing)

You can let it rain
In the breakdown lane
While waving at ladies and gents
Just don't whiz on...
Don't whiz on
Don't whiz on the electric fence.

I was a grown man when I saw that episode, and I am not kidding when I say it is the reason I floss EVERY SINGLE DAY.

MTV was showing these for a while a couple of years ago and watching as an adult I can't believe I didn't get nightmares.

I still have my Ren and Stimpy tshirt from 1991, that I got when I was 16 - it has the graphics from 'Space Madness' on it.
To this day, I describe enticing things as 'Shiny, Jolly, Candylike'

I rewatched the Cousin Sven episode and didn't laugh once, being rather disturbed. That show is/was demented.

My first exposure to Ren and Stimpy was the happy helmet episode while coming down from my first LSD experience.

Needless to say, I had to go for a long walk afterwards.

Happy happy.

Joy.

Joy.
