I've been body shamed, have you?

Yahoo Health's Body-Positivity Survey found 94% of teen females have are body-shamed – 30% higher than teen males.

"66 percent of teenage girls are either body negative (they’re dissatisfied with their bodies) or body ambivalent (they have a love/hate relationship with their bodies). Body negativity stays fairly consistent as women age, but those who are body ambivalent are more likely to upgrade to body neutral over time."

This post was deleted for the following reason: Sorry, this is a survey with kind of obvious results framed in a way that can only lead to fighting; plus it's positioned sort of weirdly as a promo for Yahoo Health? -- LobsterMitten

Not at all shocking to me, since I am a woman.

"94 percent of teen females have experienced body shame, but only 64 percent of teen males have experienced it."

I'm so happy only 64% of teen males experienced it.

Forget teenager. By the third grade I had already learned to be ashamed of my body.

It's better now because I've spent over half my life trying to deprogram myself, but yeah, I don't remember a time when there wasn't something I hated about my body. I'm also seeing an increase in this kind of cultural messaging going out to men and boys, which is awful.
