It's Peanut Butter Jelly Time! …Yet another inscrutible Internet meme. (Warning: contains Flash, sound, dancing banana icon)

I'm a bit unclear about the implied message in this link. Is is about peanut butter and jelly? Or would it be referring to some new type of peanut butter that is, in fact, flavored like jelly. Also, it's some of the best use of Flash animation I've ever seen. Very complex and moving. Especially the variations of style and movement, color and shading. Though, after a while, I felt an odd sense of deja vu.

More bananas. I'm starting to want that costume all over again.

Isn't it customary for the animation in Internet Flash Memes to actually... uh... do something?

I mean, sure the song is catchy, but as far as the visuals go... I'd rather just find that GREENL thing again.

peanutbutterjellywithabaseballbat

What the fuck does that mean?! It's time's like these I wish flash came with a timer bar like any good media player does, so you can tell how soon till something's done or whether it's looping.

What does a dancing bannana have to do with peanut butter and jelly?

And the person who made this could've put a little more effort into it. I mean, we of the Internet SuperMeme Approval Board have some standards!

I watched maybe 20 seconds of that.

That's 20 seconds of my life I'll never get back.

Can we please refrain from encouraging the spread of inane memes?

How is this an internet meme, exactly? Just because someone decided to put a crappy flash animation to a comedy song? I always thought that internet memes had to start on the internet.

I heard the song on the radio a few months back... apparently it's by a band called "The Buckwheat Boys." Be glad they don't have a record deal.

Is it an internet meme because it's posted on Metafilter?

The answer to this and other questions in next week's meme!

I think for our next meme, we should start a movement to change the pronunciation of "meme" to "Me-Me." Either that or "Me-May."

I thought it was "Me-Me". I'll have to let the folks at MeMepool.com know different.

It's a slow day at work, so we've been playing this all day long. That line "PeanutButterJelly with a baseball bat.." starting nagging at me. I seem to remember some animated health-oriented commercial which actually featured a peanut butter and jelly sandwich playing baseball. Perhaps it was theinspiration for this whole thing. Does anyone else remember this or have I finally lost my mind?
