Top 10 Wierd Baseball injuries. With the death of a fan at an NHL game, is sport the new axis of evil? I've pulled my hamstring a couple of times and broken a couple of ribs, but I have never slept on my eye 'wrong'.

Who taught John Smoltz how to iron? Good God.

So is there a right way to sleep on your eye? I would hate to think I've been doing it wrong all this time.

Shouldn't this be "Top 10 least-convincing stories to explain embarassing injuries"?

Yeah...my eye...I, uh...slept on it wrong.

The title makes is sound like the weird injuries were sustained while playing ball. A better title would be "Top Ten Assinine Ways Pro Baseball Players Have Injured Themselves off the Field."

I always thought the tale of someone ironing a shirt while wearing it was a urban legend since it's such an incredibly stupid thing to do. I didn't believe anyone ever actually had.

The real question is...why would anyone confess to injuring themselves in these ways? I'd at least try to make up something that sounded a little better.

Also, that Smoltz story is beyond funny.

I had a groin pull once.

Self-inflicted, of course.

I'm here all week.

And then you've got David Seaman (goalkeeper for the England football team) who did something nasty to his leg while reaching over to change the channel on the TV.

It's a dangerous job being an England goalie: in the 80s Dave Beasant put himself out of the team by dropping a jar of mayo on his foot...

Nolan Ryan's injury is the only cool one. The rest of them? Man, I wouldn't confess to any of the other injuries either. I hope for their sake (and pride), there were witnesses, and that's how these got out.
