Chicago police officer sues victim's family over shooting

BBC: A white Chicago police officer who fatally shot a black teenager last December is suing his family for $10m (£6.9m), claiming emotional distress. Robert Rialmo shot 19-year-old student Quintonio LeGrier six times, killing the boy's neighbour in the process.

I have no words. From a legal perspective this lawsuit is ridiculous. From a moral perspective it's obscene. I cannot imagine it will survive a dismissal motion. I don't know how things work in IL, but his lawyer may have exposed himself to sanctions for filing a meritless suit.
