Works just as well (or better) without the text.

Wow. That was lovely, thank you for sharing it.

Perfect.

If someone asks me why I'm so unreasonably in love with radio, I can send them this link. Because it's all true.

Wow, the undead DJs too?

It's really lovely to see a cartooning style that hasn't manga'ed female noses entirely out of existence.

Is college radio still any weird?

I've known a few DJs in local radio. Yes, that aspect is entirely accurate.

Nice, music, mystery, & comics, three of my favorite things.

THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BRAIN: That was lovely!

THE LEFT SIDE OF MY BRAIN: Wait, are those CDs back there? As a format that's really not that old, certainly not old enough that a man playing them could have dried out and desiccated while playing them (setting aside the impracticality of that), and apparently several people did this in a row? Unless maybe the radio station sucked the life out of these people, and that's why their spirits are there in the end? In that case, how do we feel about that radio station, isn't it basically an seductive, destructive force, consuming the lives of those who work there?

THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BRAIN: ...why do I even hang out with you?

the radio station sucked the life out of these people, and that's why their spirits are there in the end
A near-perfect description of my experience in radio as well as those of people I've known who stayed in radio much longer than I did (yeah, I'm talking to you, 'Sweet' Dick, 'Captain' Harry, 'Cable' Mike... and of course, Gar-ish)

And the CDs? Yeah, sucking the life out of the DJs obviously gave it the capability to update the equipment, probably with every new operator... I'll bet it originally started out playing 78s.

Let us remember this thread of conversation for the next MST3K Club preshow. I think there's some interesting worldbuilding that can be done here....

Is college radio still any weird?

Kitteh and I will answer that question for you,* every Saturday at 8 a.m. (ET) streaming live on http://cfrc.ca. Is it as weird as college radio can get? No. Is it really flamin' weird for 8 a.m. on a Saturday? Find out for yourself*!

the answer is yes

Jharris - CDs have been mainstream for 30 years, surely that's long enough for someone in the desert to have dessicated?

the answer is yes

Having grown up listening to CFNY from Buffalo, I've got an ingrained understanding that Canada is the land of good radio. Will listen!

play Klaus Nomi?
