Most people go straight for the flowers when the Valentine’s Day fever takes hold. If you’re looking to roll to the beat of a different drummer this year, why not check out some perfectly pleasing plants for your special someone? After all, plants say “I love you” much longer than roses. They require upkeep and a little love to keep them alive, subsequently building an apt metaphor for the long-lasting bond between you and your partner. It’s genius!

Now that you’re pumped to go in a different direction, you’ll need some leads. Not just any plant is suitable for a Valentine’s gift. Depending on what you’re really trying to say, here are just a few plants that are perfect for your number one girl/guy.

Show your passion with a Flamingo Flower
This flowering plant just oozes love and beauty. The heart shaped flowers usually bloom in February. This is perfect timing for Valentine’s Day. The Flamingo Flowers sport a vibrant pinkish-red color also considered a perennial plant, and are pros at purifying your home/office air. They’re specialty in air pollution is ammonia. The Flamingo Flower can be great for improving your special someone’s home air quality. They’re quite suitable for your bathroom window. Just keep it inaccessible to your furry friends. It’s toxic for them, if ingested.

Orchids bring an exotic beauty to the table

Orchids bloom for a while, but aren’t too much of a commitment plant. They’re stunning and beautiful, filled with intricate patterns in their bloom. Your lover will stare into their tantalizing arrangements for months.
Orchids love the subtle light of blinded windows, and they don’t need too much watering. As a matter of fact, you should be careful when watering your Orchids. They don’t like standing water in their pot, and avoid getting water on their buds. It sounds strange, but this could actually damage the flower.

Give Herbs to the health conscious lover
Maybe your partner really enjoys the healthier choices in life. If so, you could put together a nice array of herbs for Valentine’s Day. An herb garden is the “all natural” cook’s dream. Your partner will thank you long after this day has passed. You may also get to enjoy the spoils of this particular gift, so the benefits extend to all parties. Herb and perennial plants are a pure pleasure for those not so green of thumbers.
Put together a mixture of herbs such as parsley and oregano. Fresh lettuce bowls can not only provide a beautiful setting for your kitchen windowsill, but they’re also great to chew on!

Bonsai trees say, “Let’s set some roots!”

For years, the fascination with tiny trees has not subsided among the general public. For some reason, the draw of managing something that SHOULD be huge in the palm of your hand just results in a satiating satisfaction that is incomparable to any other type of Valentine’s Day gift.
In particular, the Dwarf Jade Bonsai tree is a really nice gift idea. They’re super easy to maintain. If your partner doesn’t really have the greenest of thumbs, they’ll enjoy the independence of the Dwarf Jade Bonsai. Tips on growing bonsai plants will help you on your journey.
