Metafilter meets Ali G... If you lived in Europe or were familiar with what's "in" there, you'd know about Ali G, well the guys over at Mackers have created "Da Ali G Translator," which is a lot of fun to play with.

Here's a list of some other sites that I tried out.

PS: I'm not sure if this constitues as a "good" post, but it was a lot of fun playing with the translator and I just had to share it you.

Hear me now! (in real audio). I think the old interviews were much funnier than his new show. My favourite is the interview with the head of the CIA. But I doubt anyone outside the UK will have a clue who Ali G is anyway.

I do! The Irish get UK channels as well :-) So do Belgium and Holland.

Here's me webpage in the Ali G style, man!

Well I'm in NYC, and we don't get his show here, but I did get to see him in the Brit awards. Now thanks to echelon, I can finally listen to his shows too.

I don't get it... what's the appeal?

Sudama - the appeal is that Ali does a satire of white teenagers who try and emulate black culture - they listen to hip-hop, wear the clothes, and adopt the mannerisms and slangwords....it's pretty funny stuff. Mostly it's aimed at a UK audience.
