Face Swap Live is an app for iOS and Android phones that lets you swap faces with someone (or some thing, like your cat) using your phone's camera. It garnered some attention last year for the horrific nightmare fuel that can result from a swap. Now, Rhett LeCompte has recorded a video of himself singing "We Are The World" using Face Swap to play all the original singers.

One of the things I notice with these is that at least some of the "horror" comes from swapping men's faces and womens' faces. I saw a Hilary/Trump one where, frankly, the only source of actual horror was that it still looked sort of like Trump, but it was very clear that the "horror" was supposed to be the gender ambiguity.

Like, some of these (girl and pitbull! screaming head being dunked by human basketball!) totally are nightmare fuel, but there's definitely a sense that "gender ambiguous maybe-dude in lipstick plus masculine lady" ought to horrify and shock us.

If a femme dude in lipstick shocks someone, that person needs to get out more.

Just a note that the Android version is not yet available, but there are apps with the same name in the Play Store that mostly have awful reviews.

The basket ball one was fantastic.
The dolphin pic actually startled me.

The disney ones in the "horrific" link (particularly Rapunzel and Smarmyface Whatsisname) were hilarious.
