Matchstick Puzzles

Matchstick Puzzles - I've always been intrigued by these little sticks with their rounded heads. There are just so many fun things you can do with them... I started collecting matchstick puzzles a long time ago and have decided to display them all on this blog.

I like the one where you have a grid of three-by-three squares, and it says "move one to leave no squares!" - so first, you get some petrol and pour it over all the matchsticks, then you grab one and ... No - wait. First, you ring up your insurance company, and you check your policy is still good. Then, you grab the petrol and ... No hang on. FIRST, you ask the wife to take the kids to her sister's house for the day. Ok: now you check your policy is good, then grab the petrol and - wait, is your mother staying at your place this weekend? Ok: first, ...

Oh, I love these. In New Zealand when I was a child in the 80s, matchboxes had these on the back of them. I spent many long winter evenings trying to solve them, sometimes racing my brother or my father to get the answer. I had forgotten all about them.
