The Paper-less Doll

To promote the upcoming Toronto Comic Arts Festival, renowned Canadian webcomicker Kate Beaton (previously here) made a poster showing her as a paper doll with various Festival-attending outfits (including some cosplay - maybe her cutest work since Fat Pony). To make it more appropriate for a Star of the Internets, cartoonist/game-designer Kim Hoang made it into the interactive online TCAF Kate Beaton Dress Up!

Small child says thank you! That was surprisingly adorable, and she picked the metal helmet as the hat for all the six looks she assembled.

Impressed that she included a shout-out to Bitch Planet with the "NC" T-shirt.

Just as a warning to folks.

If you're using NoScript, you need to add itch.io and Google's APIs.

That was fun! Kate Beaton love! I gave both my new nieces Fat Pony books, onesies, and stuffed Fat Ponies for Xmas. (My step siblings think I'm a weirdo.)

That's not a drawing of Kate Beaton, it's a drawing of a woman done by Kate Beaton. Her self-portraits look different. See the top of her tumblr.

I have been giving copies of The Princess and the Pony to like every child I know for birthday gifts. My son really likes it, too (I have a secret rule of reading at least one book about a girl to him every night during story time because it drives me nuts that so many books are about boys, and so many books marketed to girls are so unappealing to boys). Kate Beaton is awesome!

I am a grownup who was gifted a Fat Pony and it's A++++ the best, I recommend it for everyone, literally all situations are improved with the presence of Fat Pony.

I want to marry Kate Beaton when I grow up.

I sent her first book to my niece, except then we remembered it is super-NSFW, so it's stashed away for a few more years lol.

so then I sent the kid The Princess and the Pony and her dad reads it to her like basically every night and she loves it.

(also, yes, Fat Pony is possibly the best thing ever created in the entire history of humankind.)

I don't see the problem as long as she doesn't read it at work.

Is that what it is! I instinctively read it as the Hebrew letters טה.

My daughter also loves Fat Pony, although she is a bit past the target age, so what she really liked was a video we found online of Beaton demonstrating how to draw your own Fat Pony. All of her school materials, folders and book covers and such, are now covered in a variety of different colored Fat Ponies.

So, like, why are we not at "Metafilter'sTM Own Kate Beaton" yet?
