Iraqi engineers are warning that the Mosul Dam, formerly the Saddam Dam, is in imminent danger of collapse, due to erosion of the underlying rock, jammed sluice gates, and lack of maintenance following ISIS/ISIL/Daesh's temporary capture of it in 2014. Estimates of potential casualties range from 500,000 to 1.5 million.

The flood would inundate Mosul, the ancient city of Nineveh, and rush down the Tigris valley to Baghdad The U.S. State Department has warned American citizens in the country to prepare for the potential collapse.
