Slut Shaming And Victim Blaming Teachers, 21st Century Style

South Carolina high school teacher Leigh Anne Arthur had her personal privacy invaded by a student, who accessed her personal smartphone and upon finding partially nude photos of her on it, took pictures of the images and distributed them on social media. Even though Ms. Arthur is clearly the victim here (and is pursuing charges), the school is forcing her to resign, while refusing to punish the student.

The interim superintendent justified his stance with this statement:

I think we have a right to privacy, but when we take inappropriate information or pictures, we had best make sure it remains private.

Thankfully, many of her students understand that Ms. Arthur is the victim, and have put up a petition to have her reinstated.

This post was deleted for the following reason: This editorial framing and a petition are both no-go's for Mefi. -- LobsterMitten
