The name of this band is The Beginning Of The End. The Bahamas, 1970s. Three brothers and a friend, two albums of junkanoo-influenced funk:

My brother-in-law put "Funky Nassau" on a mix for me years and years ago and it's a song that just wormed its way into steady rotation - so funky, so groovy, so so good.

I'm looking forward to exploring the rest of these albums!

Woah, I'll be in Nassau in 2 weeks...Thanks! This is much more my speed than the usual island music, and it ties into my trip countdown nicely.

One of my Pandora stations regularly includes this style of Bahamian music (and also other post-colonial funk from around the world). The song "Gonna Build a Nation" by Cyril Ferguson has entered my regular playlist.
