Skating Polly have released a video for Pretective Boy, from their upcoming album The Big Fit. It's quite lovely.

You can listen to another song from the album: Oddie Moore, on Paste.

Well that was surprisingly adorable. In my next life I want to be brave enough to be in a band.

This is from their previous album, Fuzz Steilacoom: Alabama Movies.

Saw this video of them in Austin a couple years ago and was blown away. So glad they're still going strong.

Fantastic . . . kids these days, they know how to rock!

This was far better than I would have expected from clicking a random link to a band I had never heard of. Metafilter wins again for providing me with great new music.

This makes me feel utterly Pleistocene, though...
Skating Polly began six years ago – while members Kelli Mayo and Peyton Bighorse were still in middle school

Thank you, Dip Flash, for expressing it better. In retrospect my use of the word adorable sounds condescending, which I didn't mean. I salute these girls and their music, and regret what a chicken I was when I was young.

On the strength of this single alone I've requested Fuzz Steilacoom from my library so as to give them an extended listen. Thanks for the introduction.

Thanks ! And what about the lyrics ? Are they appropriate for young audiences ?

Well, I haven't actually checked them for appropriateness, but they were written by young artists, and I haven't actually heard anything inappropriate from them.
