Here's some more information about this petition:

We petition the Obama Administration to: Not have First Lady Michelle Obama speak at Jackson SU graduation in Mississippi on 4/23/16 due to anti-LGBT HB1523

On Tuesday, 4/5/16, Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant signed House Bill 1523 into law. HB 1523 is a blatantly anti-LGBT law that permits discrimination against people.

First Lady Michelle Obama is scheduled to speak at the graduation ceremony for Jackson State University in Mississippi on 4/23/16.

To grant the people of Mississippi an appearance and speech by the First Lady goes against the Obama Administration's past support of LGBT people . Her attendance would be seen as tacit approval of open discrimination against LGBT people.

We respectfully ask the Obama Administration to cancel First Lady Michelle Obama's speaking engagement at Jackson State University until the 'Religious Liberty Protection Act' is repealed.
