How charming! I just went and followed her on Instagram so this loveliness will pop up in my feed!

I worried as I made this post that it might be too slight for MetaFilter, but I just find these so cheerful and fun that I can't help but love them. The big swooping clouds that are barely traced in the cuttings but that you can almost feel the fluffiness and the movement, the little details like tractors and haybales and llamas, the stonework and waves and ropes. I hope a few Mefites love them as much as I do.

The second link talks about her process, and it almost makes me feel like I could make these, too. But then I remember that I can't draw and have no sense of perspective and have never actually papercut anything.

All of her art is absolutely wonderful - thank you so much for posting! The floral pieces would make beautiful tattoos.

I love this, and now I too want to try and do it, despite have the art skills of a sugar crazed toddler.

The sad thing is, my niece, who is 3, recently painted a portrait of Frida Kahlo at her Montessori preschool that is probably better than I could have done. I don't even have the art skills of a sugar-crazed toddler.

jacquilynne, I understand the narrative, but let's not reinforce the image of great artists as all obsessed with cookies and throwing tantrums when they don't get a nap on time.

More seriously, does the composition remind anyone else of Tolkein's paintings of the shire?

Now that I've googled "Tolkien's paintings of the shire"? Yes, kinda.

These are pure delight! The clouds are fantastic and I love the bright colors in the windows, too.
