Fallout: New Vegas - Choose Your Own Apocalypse [slyt, but not really...] is an interactive novel, played entirely within YouTube. Make your choices, pick your allies, select the best approach, and maybe you'll make it all the way to New Vegas...

Awesome!
For all Fallout 4's advances, I lost interest well before completing the main quest line. New Vegas is still the only Fallout to have kept my attention and enthusiasm going until the end. Thanks for posting this!

Not only was NV exciting all the way through, but every time I played, I'd start by cutting off in a random direction and end up with a completely new story for each character every time. I felt no such draw from F4, as most quests of interest were somehow attached to the main story and thus put the character on a similar trajectory as Head Cheese of one faction or another, and Public Enemy of all others.

Also, NV had Dave Foley.

I always, always go with Yes Man.

I think one of the things that gets glossed over about NV a lot is that it really is more or less the plot from the original Fallout 3, when it was still in development at Black Isle/Interplay before Interplay went bust and sold the property. Code name Van Buren took place in pretty much the same area, with pretty much just smaller aspects of the original story. While Van Buren was far more expansive and far reaching than New Vegas, Caesars Legion was definitely a big plot point in the game, having its whole own area.

I think this is part of the reason it worked so well. Not only was it put together by many of the people who were on the original teams, who are much more in tune with the world they created and its weird mashup of western and fifties pastiche post-apocalyptica, but much of the story was already fleshed out in their minds (and in code) which made it easier to pick up the pieces from where they were and put together something new and worthwhile that not only truly fit the Fallout brand, but was the follow-up many Fallout fans were actually waiting for.

This Choose Your Own Adventure would be a lot more fun with less narration and perhaps narration from someone who isn't British.

I haven't watched this yet -- I'm waiting until tomorrow when I can actually watch without my family interrupting me -- but I wanted to mention that the fellow who put this together, Jon/Many A True Nerd, is a huge, huge Fallout fan and has done several extremely watchable series on Fallout 3, NV, and 4. No Kill runs, Kill Everything Runs, survival/don't starve...they're all great. Other video games too, but the Fallout universe is where he shines. If you're into Let's Play type videos, he's very much worth checking out.

His Fallout: New Vegas You Only Live Once series is what convinced me to buy the game

For the love of God and all that is holy could this discussion please not devolve into a reddit-esque discussion where FNV is the only True Heir to the Fallout throne?

I too didn't really get cracking on the FO4 main quest until I was level 80, and now the Automatron and Wasteland Workshop DLCs have arrived I can build my own robot Shaun with minigun arms and pit him in bloody arena battles against raiders and super-mutants.

I mean I know you can't hug someone with nuclear arms but this little tyke has a shoulder-mounted Fat Man launcher and he hugs just fine.

Oh my god I just realized that boy needs a mother. With Gatling laser arms.

I'm on a break from FO4 until the CK is released and no more DLC is released. I need a stable (giggles at the idea) base game so that I don't have to mess around with mod updates and can actually play without restarting because "oooh, a new shiny mod appears".

I'm both looking forward to and dreading the advent of GECK-created mods. Looking forward to someone restoring the Combat Zone. Dreading the inevitable Kill Children/Combat Rape mods.
