Wow, the ticket stub site has the potential to be awesome. (Now I'm glad that I have all those Yankee game and jazz concert tickets taped to my wall!) posted by delfuego at 9:30 PM on May 7, 2000
oh. my. god. matt. you have no idea what you're unleashing with the ticket stub site.
I kept 90% of all my tickets over the last decade... just waiting for a chance to talk about ALL the gigs I've seen. Can't wait. :-) posted by prolific at 12:12 AM on May 8, 2000
Yeah, that is awesome. I was going to make my own little project (10 years worth) but this is *so* much better. Again, thanks Matt (I've been saying that a lot in the last few days.) posted by sylloge at 12:35 AM on May 8, 2000
Um, Matt? Do they not share an auth database? posted by baylink at 7:10 AM on May 8, 2000
the tickets thing is genius. i see it and CROON forming a network of music-based personal narrative sites. hmm. now where's the VINYL site? posted by Zeldman at 7:39 AM on May 8, 2000
Giddy, just giddy. Late May seems so far away. posted by Mick at 8:07 AM on May 8, 2000
OK - so if we have a killer idea to become a channel we get in touch with you? And this becomes a distributed group of mini-communities with some shared entry point and interface but otherwise independent? Or something like that?
I've been working out a plan similar to this with some virtual community friends of mine - I'd love to help in any way to explore this, if you need a hand! posted by mikel at 8:12 AM on May 8, 2000
I'm glad to hear the ticket stub thing is striking a chord. I bet the majority of entries will be music-related, but a couple people mentioned other stubs I never thought about - the valet parking stub they saved from their first real job interview - the movie stub from a first date, etc., so I'm going to try and keep it as open as possible in regards to postings. I should really start a thread on the coming soon page itself.
Mike - my plans are to make fun and engaging sites that everyone here can contribute to. I have this user base of over 800 people that I'd like to bring together to collaborate on interesting sites.
If you have an idea for a site, shoot me an email, I'm upgrading the server soon and will have plenty of room to grow. If we can come up with 5 or 6 more collaborative sites this year, I'd be a very happy man.
Oh - and I am going to be doing something with metafilter.org - probably some sort of hosting thing. posted by mathowie at 9:06 AM on May 8, 2000
(following up on zeldman) Synchronicity... today, at work I had NOTHING to do (starting to get a bit doubtful about this job...) so I started redesigning Croon. posted by prolific at 11:44 AM on May 8, 2000
Ahem.
I'll say it more loudly.
Matt? Does the new MetaTalk *not* share it's authentication database with MeFi? posted by baylink at 12:01 PM on May 8, 2000
yeah, it shares all the same userbase, but I didn't set the customization cookies on login yet. Will do tonight (then your font settings should be the same on metafilter and metatalk). posted by mathowie at 12:23 PM on May 8, 2000
Hmmm... my problem is that I can't *log in* to MT, even by hand typing my password.
