People watching people watching cats

Most of you will have heard of Nyan Cat before. A similar number will know that there is a ten-hour version on YouTube. What you probably didn't know is that there is a ten-hour video of someone watching that ten-hour version. What you almost definitely didn't know is that there's a ten-hour video of someone watching someone else watch ten hours of Nyan Cat.

This is sort of what I needed to see today. Although as I skipped ahead a bit in each of the videos, I started to get anxious thinking about how long watching 10 hours of Nyan Cat really is.

Note that each additional layer of meta-cat is associated with an approx. 1 order of magnitude drop in views. We can chart with near-certainty how many nested watching-of-cat videos can exist in our universe.

And see, this generation isn't all about instant generation and checking your phone every 10 minutes.

I'm tempted to search for a ten-hour video of somebody watching me reading this post. But no, on balance, I'm thinking maybe I'll just assume there couldn't possibly be one.

I still don't understand why it has a pop-tart body.

Note that it starts with the little intro which you never hear again.

Also, it cracks me up that there's a 1080p version which is actually noticeably of higher quality.

Cats with regular bodies cannot fly through space.

"The Pop Tart Cat animation was posted on the daily comics site LOL-COMICS run by illustrator Chris Torres, also known as prguitarman, on April 2nd, 2011. The original drawing was based on his own Russian Blue cat, Marty, and was drawn after receiving two separate suggestions for a cat and a pop tart during a Red Cross charity drawing event on Livestream. Prior to the Pop Tart Cat, prguitarman had already gained a relatively large audience with a few other instances of comics circulating on the web. The GIF animation was also reblogged via Tumblr on April 2nd, 2011, accumulating over 3,000 notes (likes & reblogs) in its first two weeks."

- Know your Meme

So... it has a pop tart body because of random chance fueled by whimsy.

I've also never seen a cat with a regular body with a rainbow shining from its posterior.

A further 10-hour video metalayer should end with a barely-recognisable slowed down version of Je ne Regrette Rien

- Did not use alcohol / weed / other drugs to make it through. Totally legit.
- Food: packed peanut butter sandwiches, chewing gum, and cheetos.
- Drink: large cup of water, iced tea.
- Peed once around 5:17:15 into the iced tea bottle.

Oooh, look at Mr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson over here.

The moment five hours into the last video where he pees into his iced tea bottle might be the lowest point in internet culture, and also this man's life.

Seriously, how the heck do they do that? The clock "proves" they sit through 10 hours, but...do they really?

I watched it for 10 seconds. That was more than enough.

I'd rather watch this for 10 hours: #define NYAN

Oh, it's a Pop Tart. I thought it was a slice of Spam.

Now I want a Pop Tart.

It's actually a generic toasted pastry rather than a Pop Tart brand toasted pastry. I can tell from the pixels sprinkles.

I like the creator's comment on the last video: "No amount of views makes this worth it."
