I always thought Sparks were British. It was a surprise to hear this American accent coming out of Mr. Mael's mouth. Deadpan is Ron's specialty in the band, but I'm impressed with the way he pulls it off in speech as well.

I'm going to guess that this was done somewhere around the Big Beat or Introducing Sparks era. Some kinda bizarre promo film? Ah, who cares! It's Ron Mael, Ron Mael-ing it up for two-and-a-half minutes!

Wonder if he ever got those toenail clippers?

They sound like rubes in a Coen Brothers movie. It is glorious.

Also, I read on the internet somewhere that Ron dated Isabella Rossellini and I desperately hope this is true.

Yes, yes, good.

Also, RC Cola is the Tropicana Hotel of sodas.

You could have swapped Ron for Larry Bud Melman here. I wonder which came first.

JoeZydeco: Well, the actor who played Bud Mehlman came first, but Ron'a been doing this schtick since 1969

I'd love to find out if there was a connection between the Mael brothers and David Letterman during his early comedy writing days in LA.

Oh, man, do I ever miss those old vending machines. They used to be practically everywhere.

Got it: Holiday for Strings.

Is that the background music? 'Cause I was just about to ask if anyone knew the name for it.
