KFC in Hong Kong Has Released "Lickable" Nail Polish Would you really want it to remain on your fingers? Indefinitely? These are just two of the salient questions raised by the chicken chain’s new Hong Kong marketing campaign, in which it is offering lickable, edible fingernail polish in two flavors: Original, and Hot and Spicy.

A significant reason for painting my fingernails is so that I don't bite them, so this seems like it would be counterproductive, alas.

1. This is disgusting.
2. The colors suck.
3. I paint my nails so they look pretty...not so I can suck on them.

I remember there was a varnish you could buy (1970s/1980s) to put on your nails that tasted very nasty, specifically designed to stop nail biting.

Tastes like solvants.

Seriously, though, I'm sure they could have made flavored lipsticks, lip balms or even eye shadows (a la Chocolate and PB&J Too Faced palettes). Nail varnish? Ew.

Indefinitely?

Thousands of years after the obliteration of human civilisation, alien archaeologists will be frustrated by the destruction of all our records and the rasure of every building and monument. But among the faint stains where a corpse once was, they will find a surviving shard of polish which faithfully reproduces for them what KFC tasted like.

I assume this can indicate that the same chemicals used to flavor their chicken can be used in nail polish without affecting the integrity of the polish.

I'm not sure you could make useful nail polish with any number of herbs and spices.

Popeyes is better anyway.

So what? For most people Popeye's is out-of-bounds as it's in the Restricted Area at Hong Kong International Airport.

Dammit, it's not available yet. I'm in Hong Kong for one more day and I was totally about to run out the door to get some and report back.

Something hot and spicy on my fingers, indefinitely? Remembering that time I prepared a few habanero peppers without proper hand washing and somehow got an itch in both eyes. No thanks.

There's a product called "THUM" which is basically hot, spicy flavors in a base designed to be painted onto the fingers to prevent thumb sucking/nail biting. My folks used it on me. I quickly figured out that nail polish remover, followed by soap, took it off nicely. Obviously an earlier formulation of this product.

edible fingernail polish in two flavors: Original, and Hot and Spicy.

I prefer the Original flavor, maybe with a little salt. For my thumbnail I want Pepsi.

I think it's great that KFC is giving its chicken feet family value bucket just that extra bit of spicy pizazz!
