How do you address the elephant in the room with a live audience? The Axis of Awesome shows us the way.

The Axis of Awesome [previously] [previously] [previously], is an Australian comedy band that looks a little different than it used to.

I liked this when Mr. Show did it and I like it now. (Which is how I often feel about the Axis of Awesome -- "this is derivative but I'm having a good time.")

This band's name is perfect.

(Also, of course, the stakes are higher here than for the Mr. Show bit, which was entirely conceptual, so this has a lot more heart. Which, again, is how I feel about this band a lot.)

All that straight talk and they never even addressed my biggest question; who the fuck tucks their jeans into their boots aside from toddlers stomping in puddles?

I went back to rewatch the video to see the boots and got into enjoying the song again and forget to notice the boots. Twice.

Also make sure to watch her video: What Happened to Jordan's Beard?

I am so so so happy for her!

This was both funny and classy at the same time.

But the headline reminded me that Axl Rose (who is apparently still alive) is currently touring as the lead vocalist for AC/DC. Which is, you know... neither.

I had always thought that the follow-up sequence in A Mighty Wind was really a dud, and watching the Axis of Awesome clips only brings that into sharper relief. They managed funny without making it mean.

Here's another video with some interviews and behind-the-scenes footage from the show: Axis Of Awesome's Jordan Raskopoulos' first tour as a transgender woman. "Right now, I'm really happy."

I had always thought that the follow-up sequence in A Mighty Wind was really a dud.

A Mighty Wind is so entirely great until the post-script. The New New Main Street Singers as Supreme Court Justices is just lame, but the fates of Mitch and Mickey undermine the characters and the Folksmen sequence is disappointing and insulting. I still watch the film regularly, but I turn it off after the concert ends. Its a fine ending just like that.

Also, Axis of Awesome is terrific and I'm so pleased that Jordan is happy.

They also did a pretty fantastic cover of Transgender Dysphoria Blues by Against Me! I mean, look at those adorable nerds. I'm so happy that Jordan's happy. It comes across in her performance and her videos and it's so hard not to smile at it.
