These are awesome. I seem to recall my high school having silly rules about not allowing any adornment of grad caps and this irking me because i wanted to do some dumb shit like build a farm scene or something on it.

the kids these days . . . theyre alright.

Wow, that latinarebels.tumblr.com link is giving my work firewall the serious grue. Is it really that bad?

Looking forward to reading these links this evening, will pass them on to graduates I know.

(Middle daughter graduated college this weekend and there were several adorned caps there, I'm pretty sure I read that they have relaxed the rules.)

I go back and forth on this sort of thing, but oh, man, this one made me cry.

Mchelly - it just got crazy dusty in here.

I normally only use Instagram on my phone - it was unclear to me how to link to a specific image - can anyone enlighten me?

Last week my 3 year old asked why she speaks Spanish at home and English outside. I told her it is because she is a little xicanita.

We grew up with Chicano being a slur, and for most of our family back in Mexico it still is. My mom told me she was proud that my daughter looks more gringita than chicanita (?!), my in-laws want her to go to school in Mexico so that she does not become a 'pocha'.

We talked about it, and started looking for some good role models, because unless there is some huge unpredictable change in the next decade, she will at some point start getting shit from bigots both here in the US and back in Mexico.

This is a great post.
