This felt like an alternate trailer for Ex Machina.

(And now I'd like to see a cover band named Hooey Louise and the Noose)

This was a lot better than I expected, and I'm surprised it comes from Vogue.

I was thinking 80s Genesis but Huey Lewis is a good choice.

Are we forgetting Whitney? You know that her first LP had four number one singles, right? I mean,
It’s hard to choose a favorite among so many great tracks, but “The Greatest Love of All” is one of the best, most powerful songs ever written about self-preservation, dignity. Its universal message crosses all boundaries and instills one with the hope that it’s not too late to better ourselves. Since, Elizabeth, it’s impossible in this world we live in to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves. It’s an important message, crucial really. And it’s beautifully stated on the album.
Words to live by.

Having not seen American Psycho, I was mainly confused until I read the doobly doo.

Lewis. With a fucking dubayoo.

I specifically looked up the correct spelling so I could use the wrong spelling, just to see how many comments it would take for someone to correct it. Good job!

It's kind of fascinating how influential American Psycho has become.

My favorite parody (original scene)

I suppose in my heart of hearts I knew it was only an affectation, but for the longest time I liked to assume that song was a tribute to masturbation.

I am also a big fan of the actual Huey Lewis's take on this.

Thanks Pendragon. I love/hate how MetaFilter reminds me how clueless I am with pop culture on an almost daily basis. That movie came out in 2000! The novel in 1991. Maybe I'll start there.

The novel in 1991.

Don't know how you feel about shocking/horrific/disgusting stuff but the movie is a waaaaay waaaay toned down version of the book. Just wanted to warn you to be prepared.

(My aunt is a very serious lover of books and when she was done with American Psycho she burned it in her grill outside.)
