These shots lived, died, and live again!

You would almost think these movies had the same director.

Well, yeah, but seeing things side by side is still pretty cool. Speaking as someone who's (still!) only seen Fury Road and loves it to death, it makes me wonder how much seeing it with the earlier films in mind would heighten one's appreciation for the callbacks of specific elements like a guy chained in front of a car.

You should watch the other Mad Max films, they're quite entertaining once you get past the fact that Mel Gibson's in them.

To be fair, like most of us, the Mel Gibson of then is markedly different to the Mel Gibson we have now. In that respect if you can dissociate the two different Mel Gibson's there is much to enjoy in the original films.

Some of these I had noticed watching Fury Road, like the little music box thing, but others I hadn't, like the platform hoist in Bartertown.

To be fair, I had not previously noticed that the huge-wide-eyes-at-imminent-impact (2:20 or so) from The Road Warrior and Fury Road were literally the same shot with different colour timing.

The same eyes, too; Immortan Joe was played by the same actor as Toecutter.

I hope he makes another Mad Max in 20 years, because I would love to see how movies will change in the future to make Fury Road's perfection look campy and dated by comparison.

George Miller's 71 now, I doubt that he'll be making movies in 20 years.

This was fun. Furry Road is the only film in 30 plus years to knock Road Warrior out of my AllTimeFavoriteFilmOfEver slot.

You should see the shot-by-shot comparison with Happy Feet.

So I'd never noticed until seeing this that Vernon Wells played pretty much the same role in Weird Science as he did in Mas Max. Also that he was the Bad Guy in Commando. Immortan Joe = Toecutter was great! Remember him when you look at the night sky!
