It's strange to think Harmony Cousins is part my generation when she's lived ten times the life I have. But the fact that even after all this she can pull herself back to together proves that she's ten times the person most of us are. How many of us have her strength?

I was actually fortunate enough to see her working in the midst of it all, during a lunch time concert at the ISME in 1998. The pain was there in her eyes, yet she still managed to captivate her audience. Magical. Does anyone else have any Harmony stories?

Sorry to disappoint, Ty, I actually had a brief relationship with Harmony just before the whole Toby Cullen thing blew up last year. She's not a bad person but is plagued with self-doubt and, honestly, I don't feel her career path is challenging her intellectually. The drugs issue is a red herring - I've shared a few nice E's with her and it was never a problem. Harmony just needs to be appreciated, and that's something no number of interviews or drugs can solve in an instant.

I actually did find it inspiring. I have not been a major fan - skylar, you're kidding, right - that you know her?? -- but a story like hers does seem affirming. Seeing Harmony exit such numbness, over time, reveals EVERYTHING about life. To me, anyway.

My sister moved in the same circles as Cousins for a few months in 2000 (more like her boyfriend moved in those circles--my sister tagged along). She said that Cousins' charisma was remarkable, but that she was always sort of walking a line between genius and madness. Apparently, she had a habit of finishing her sentences with nonsense syllables. Weird shit.

I've always heard that her sister, Melody, is the REAL talent in the family. She won Switzerland's coveted Katzenjammer prize for Alpenlieder at age 15, and would probably be a professional yodeler if not for that unfortunate incident with the grouse. Now she's just another piece of wasted underage jet trash. Too sad.
