"Everybody’s point of view is legitimate. The goal of the things I say onstage or in my shows isn’t to please everyone. My goal is not to have everyone say, “This was an excellent indictment of this bad thing.” I’m confounded by people who want that from art.

Louis strikes me as a guy who's at least thinking about privilege and punching up/down, if not in those words, but yeah, he's not even acknowledging that "the Gawker stuff" isn't about his work, and it's weird (as is the interviewer letting him turn it like that).

One of the former stand-up comedians I follow (because of he and his wife's political podcast, not because of his comedy) have brought up before that it too makes them very uneasy about the closed-ranks and pressure to shut up about it at female comedians who have brought it up happening to them. Again, when people in your own community don't have your back, you're damn right you end up buttoning because no one believes the women.

Apologies to all, wasn't aware of the rumors about his sexual misconduct.

What are the rumors again anyway? Is it just that Louis is a little kinky in private in a way that he can be shamed and "brought down a notch" for, or are there specific claims he wronged someone?
