Alawa (the lazy howler) is a captive-born Canadian/Rocky Mountain gray wolf at the Wolf Conservation Center (WCC), a 501c3 non-profit organization, in South Salem, NY. She is one of the four 'ambassador wolves' at the WCC that help teach the public about wolves and their vital role in the environment.

Efficient Howler. Not Lazy Howler.

That wolf is optimal.

I will take this opportunity, once again, to say that WCC is just a great, great group and you should support them if you can. It's now a very serious, respected, well run and credentialed organization where they absolutely do not sneak away with the wolves for romantic walks in the woods (anymore).

'Romantic walk on the woods' with a Wolf?
We clearly grew up with different paradigms.

I saw a whate'er-wolf with an iPhone 8 in his hand
Standing on the streets of South Salem in the rain
He was waiting for an Uber to pick him the hell up
Going up to Horse & Hound for Crab Cakes
Whate'er-wolves of South Salem

If you hear him howling around your kitchen door
Go ahead and let him in
He's got a different lady give him ear scritches every night
Whate'er-wolves of South Salem again
Whate'er-wolves of South Salem

He's the hairy handed gent who ran a club in Kent
Lately he's been staying at the Mayfair
Better stay away from him
He'll break your heart too, Jim
I'd like to meet his tailor
Whate'er-wolves of South Salem

Well, I saw Lynne Cheney walking with Captain Queeg
Doing the Whate'er-wolves of South Salem
I saw Lynne Cheney and Jr. walking with Captain Queeg
Doing the Whate'er-wolves of South Salem
I saw a whate'er-wolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's
His hair was perfect
Whate'er-wolves of South Salem again
Blue blood

If they're anything like the wolves going for a walk in the park I encountered in England they will just hide in the woods peeking out at you while their keepers confirm your inquiry that yes they are in fact wolves and would you please move along as they are scared of you.

I came here to post a, "Hey, that's how I _____" but then the list of things kept growing and I got a bit discouraged.

This wolf is me and I am this wolf.

I would like to go visit these wolves. I liked that on the website, if you donate, you can get an 8x10 photo and I thought "that's a totally reasonable thing to frame and display." Alawa is my new favorite celebrity now and I'd proudly display a photo of her in my home.

That sounds remarkable like the noises I make when forced to get out of bed in the mornings. Especially in winter.
