Zappa discusses the Watts Riots, musically, and there is a deja vu quality, as if he is singing about this last several years. I was in the mood to hear this album tonight and I forgot some of the amazingness of it.
I knew most of this music by heart at one time. Zappa went to Viewmont High School, in Davis County, just north of Salt Lake City. His reference to Suzy Cream Cheese, from Salt Lake City, became my Alice in Wonderland exit to a world inhabited by huge questions, you don't ask at the dinner table.
