"Welcome to Five Course Trivia! Five days a week, we’ll post five questions about something from the culinary world, from soup to nuts and all dishes in between."
the questions are open to everyone with a passing interest in trivia or food
Or in trivial food.

They seem to have some trouble with arithmetic:
6. What sticky-rice cake dish, which can molded into desserts like wagashi or daifuku, is being used in the ice cream variety seen here?posted by cerebus19 at 12:01 PM on August 24, 2016
7. Give the name for the bowl seen here. It is used in Japanese cuisine as either a bowl for rice, or for a cup used to drink tea? Its name is Japanese for “tea bowl”.
That just sucked away an hour of my life with a slurping sound as loud as a good noodle shop.
(I like to think of their problem with arithmetic as just an overenthusiasm for their subject, and I'm good with that.)

Wow. I know more about Japanese food that I thought. I guess reading the menu at the ramen place--even though I order the same thing every time--paid off.

Cerebus, I got a serious headache figuring out that by "arithmetic" you'd meant "grammar"
Which, admittedly, could just be a self-aware thing having to do with the difficulties demonstrated in the thing being talked about?

I thought he meant that there were supposed to be five questions every day (the five courses) and that on many occasions there were more than five. That's their arithmetic problem--they can't count.

Oh, okay, I was looking at things like "can molded into" and the non-question "It is used … to drink tea?"

Not so good at geography either:
It’s often considered a comfort food dish in Japan, but it is more associated with the cities of Hiroshima and Kansai.
(Nitpicky, I know, but c'mon, it's a trivia site.)

Trivia is basically fundamentally predicated on nitpicking. You're well within your rights to point out, essentially, that Africa isn't a country.
