Having finished watching Masterchef, I have my Ramsey 2 yard stare head-snap going. So I type in "Welsh Rarebit" with smirk and @&$!. So I yelled at one recipe calling for ale as a substitute for milk. ALE!
Nice find.

Best of the web hands down! Some pretty unusual recipes on there - mashed potato candy was a new one on me. Some of his French Canadian recipes are solid if a bit basic.

I have been told by former Morrison's employees that sometimes their fruit pies and pecan pies were made with a canned filling.

GASP

The only recipe Morrison's (now Piccadilly) distinguished itself with was its peculiarly resilient cubes of blue Jello. That place made shrimp that put me off the stuff for life.

But yes - this is a great resource! Looking forward to reading the rest!

Love this! Unfortunately, no Fiestada/Taco Pizza. It's been 25 years since I graduated high school and I still get a hankering for this.

Wonderful find! Loved the old-time New York nostalgia - Horn & Hardart, Chock Full o' Nuts, other common everyday places my parents took me to as a kid, now just memories.

I just asked Uncle Phaedrus if he could find a lamb recipe from a long-gone NYC Greek restaurant called the Paradise Gardens ... that dish has haunted me since childhood. Godspeed, Uncle P!

OK, Pickled ring bologna both make me go o.0 and made my night.

OMG! They have the recipes for Horn&Hardart's baked beans, mac and cheese and tapioca pudding!

I'm so going to be cooking today.

SO, this is Zen and the art of Cookbook Maintenance?

It doesn't appear to be a delivery wrapper for timecubey theories, but I've only read the French Canadian recipes so far.

I could have sworn NPR had a series on lost recipes, but the 'lost recipes' tag only has two stories (three, but two are on pickles). Then there's the series Found Recipes, which is probably what I had in mind.
